Of Geological Time

Digital photographs on semi-gloss paper

Cyanotypes on cotton paper

Of Geological Time responds to the Organ Pipes National Park, exploring multispecies entanglements within the site in relation to geological time. Using both digital and cyanotype photographic processes, the body of work aims to illuminate the complex, co-dependent and mutually reinforcing relationships between humans and more-than-human others. Informed by posthumanism and Anthropocene politics, Of Geological Time expands the notion of the ‘geological’ to encompass the vast scales of deep time certified by geological records. By aligning humans with more-than-human timescales that transcend the so-called Anthropocene, the work aims to de-centre humans from temporal and ecological systems.
